This weekend, I partied like a 7-year-old…Oh, and I might’ve watched Lost a little bit too.

Remember when I said that this weekend was supposed to be quiet and relaxing?  And how I was going to just soak that up and savour it?

Well it was.  And I did.

Friday evening, I had literally no plans.  I was looking forward to snuggling up on the couch in my quilt with a cup of tea, and spending the evening with Jack and Sawyer and the rest of the Lost cast.

As it turns out, my friend Brenda stopped in for a visit, so I traded the cup of tea for a few goblets of Wild Vines, and I swapped Jack and Sawyer for some much-needed girl talk!  Later on, Brenda’s son (and my Godson) Cowan joined us – and I teased him, saying, “I’m sure you’re thrilled to be spending your Friday night with me and your mom, watching wedding shows.”  (Four Weddings and Say Yes to the Dress are my Friday evening shows of choice.)

Cowan looked at me and very dryly commented: “Jill, it wouldn’t be the first time.”

He’s a  trooper. ;)

Saturday morning, I had every intention of sleeping in and lounging around in my jams all morning.  So of COURSE, I was up fairly early and full of energy.  I hate when that happens.  After a cup of coffee and an episode of Lost, I was literally bouncing off the walls – so I changed into track pants and  a hoodie, and went for a long walk.  It felt great.  The sun was shining, the air was crisp and cool, the leaves were crunching under my feet, and I had my iPod on shuffle.  It was throwing out all kinds of long-lost gems that just made my day.  Perfect Saturday morning.

When I got home, I put up Halloween decorations, tidied the house a little, watched some more Lost (so.frigging.addicted.), and got ready to head out to my nephew Caden’s birthday party.

Okay.  So.  Let’s just hold up a minute here.  Caden turned 7 this weekend.  SEVEN.  Can we seriously please just stop time for a little while?  Just push the pause button?!   Because there is absolutely no way that Caden can possibly be 7 years old.  NO WAY!!!

14 kids.  One small party room at the arena in Chelsea.  Pogos and chips and cake and presents.  Then, they all put on their skates and headed out for public skating.  They had a blast!!

Jill & Neve

Neve came dressed for the party in her little Sens jersey and slippers…so  stinkin’ cute!

We were home by 8:30-ish, and I promptly put on my pj’s, hit the couch and watched Lost.  Shocking.  I know.  Apparently partying like a 7-year-old when you’re 29 takes a lot out of you.  I was wiped.

Sunday morning broke dull and grey and rainy, so I took the opportunity to have my lazy morning then instead.  I skipped church to spend time with Sawyer and Jack.  So sue me.

As the show progresses, I’m also kinda falling in love with Jin.  So I guess I should include him too. That’s one sexy Korean.

Ummm…okay…where was I… *drool*

So.  I had suggested taking Caden to the movies yesterday afternoon, since it was his actual birthday.  My sister texted me to say she thought that was a good plan, and so we all headed to the theatre to see Hotel Transylvania.  The kids loved it, and the adults thought it was pretty entertaining too!  Perfect October family fun :)

After stopping in for a quick visit with Baby Neve (and her ‘rents), we headed back to my mom’s for a delicious dinner – stuffed pork tenderloin, potatoes, gravy, homemade bread, salad, and leftover birthday cake.  What a treat!  It was sooo good!

Sunday evening.  Still rainy and dreary.  What did I do?

I don’t think I have to tell you…

lost

All that rest & relaxation & Lost made for a wonderful weekend… and yet I still didn’t want to get out of bed this morning.  *sigh*

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! :)

We had a great weekend, but by last night both Nick and I had decided that we needed a day between Saturday and Sunday so we could properly enjoy the weekend.

Ok so it seems that people in England prefer Tea, people in the US prefer coffee or iced tea or sweet tea even, what do Canadians prefer?

Sounds like a great weekend, and don't feel bad about skipping church...everyone needs a day off now and then....I seem to remember a story.... and on the 7th day God rested...
