It's December!!

Happy December 1st, everyone!

Reasons why today is a happy day:

  • It's Friday
  • It's almost the weekend
  • The Sens won last night
  • It's officially - OFFICIALLY - the Christmas Season
  • They're calling for snow
  • Christmas is only 25 days away (or 24, depending on how you figure it)
  • If you have one of those chocolate Advent Calendars, you get to start it today

Yes, it would appear there are plenty of things to smile about!

I'm just glad it's almost the weekend. I've had a long week. I'm ready for some rest. I thought once Murder Mystery was over, things would return to normal, but I seem to have been in a bit of a tailspin all week long. Not that anything major has happened...Just strangely busy with little things.

I'm looking forward to getting some more Christmas shopping done tomorrow. I still need to plan a day for Bayshore, but Saturday will be another Wal-Mart safari. I have a few ideas for some of the people left on my list, so I should get the majority of it done tomorrow.

Anyways, I hope you all have a lovely December weekend, and maybe there will even be some white stuff on the ground by nightfall!

Yea i was a little surprised this morning and heard the radio saying that Ottawa buses were cancelled, look out the window and the ground wasn't even wet. Anyways here in Ottawa, it has been snowing since about 8:30 - sometimes i look out and it's big romantic snow flakes, other times, it looks like ice pellets, so pretty crappy out either way - wet weather...but i love seeing snow and kinda coincidence that it happens to be December 1st. Well I am going to venture over to Rideau this afternoon and see if i can get some more Christmas presents. We'll see how that goes - good thing I brought my winter boots!
Anyways this weekend, i think Ricky and I are just relaxing - get the baby stuff in order - wash all the clothes etc...
Jill - we're going to cancel the movies tonight, we may go next week sometime, we'll let you know though - cuz depending on the snow and stuff, we don't really want to come out of the theatre and have a lot more snow or something....so we'll have to take a rain check.
Anyways see ya's later!

I figured postponing the movies would be best! Maybe I'll get some scrapbooking done tonight. Loved your description of the "romantic snowflakes"...LOL! That's basically what we've been getting here for the past hour, but it's not sticking much. I call it Christmas Eve snow, or Snowglobe snow - very pretty. It's making my December 1st so much more merry!

There is white stuff on the ground in the Algonquin College Court yard as I type. I am very happy today as well. I have a lot of things to do that will make my day just FLY by!

There is just snow flurries here in Shawville so far. I think we will miss the freezing rain, it seems to be too cold for that. Although on the weather network for Shawville it says ice pellets all day and then snow tonight, 10-13 cm. And then it will be cold all next week with snow in the forecast, so I guess this will probably be it, snow for the next 4 months. No adventures in Yarm last night. My mom called, I think because she missed me. Tomorrow I might have to help Chad deliver 10 cords of firewood to Mr. and Mrs. Holmes' house. And if I ever get back home I will have to try and do some Christmas baking. I also have to get the Christmas lights up outside, I never got around to it last weekend when it was nice and warm. And I guess that's all I am doing this weekend. I think I will take Dec.11th off work to go shopping with my mom. Then I will have one more holiday to take before Christmas. I am working the 27,28,29 of December, but then I am off the whole next week. I almost forgot about the Santa parade on saturday night. Are any of you guys coming down to Shawville for it?

I like the different recaps of the snow situation around the area - right now - downtown, it has completely stopped snowing, no wait - as i look out another window, its very fine, possibly ice pellets now...who knows - i'm in indoors.
The parade in Shawville, i have never been to it before - it's also the parade in Campbells Bay, originally i wanted to go to that, but i think, like i said, we're just relaxing and stuff this weekend. Our days are becoming limited for just me and Ricky, soon enough, Madyson will be here!!
They're calling for 10 - 13 cm in Shawville? On Environment Canada, for Ottawa, it says only 2-4 cm - i guess we'll just have to wait and see what falls!
PK - we're in the same boat as you, the last couple of weekend when it was nice, we talked about getting our christmas lights up but never got around to it - so this weekend we're going to have to do it - and put plastic on the windows cuz of the cold drafts. I may do some baking or cooking (i promised ricky i would make a batch of spaghetti sauce) so it could be a busy weekend afterall...hah!

I'm also enjoying the snow recaps! Still big fluffy snowflakes falling here, and Jared says its colder out now, and it's definitely starting to stick more.
I just got a "Big" part of my Christmas shopping done! Luke & I were planning to get mom a ticket to a Sens game for Xmas, and we were debating on what game to get, but I finally just ordered tickets for the Jan 6th game vs. New Jersey, in row C of the third level, so they're fairly decent seats. (Hope Mom doesn't figure out how to read the blog!) So YAY! Mom's done!!
PK: Probably won't be up to the Shawville Parade - we haven't gone since we were little kids. But I am looking forward to the Quyon parade next week. I tried so hard to get my Canada Day Committee to put a float it, but they're all ignoring me, and I don't know how to do it, so I guess I'm not going to be in the parade.
Anyways, better get back to work!! TTYL

Wow jill that's the game I am going to with Joce, Dan and Wayne... hope Wayne doesn't decide to check out the Blog world today... lol... we are in the Coca Cola Fan zone row L... but we will have jerseys! lol... I bought the Oasis Best of yesterday as well as KT Tunstall and Tom Petty... I know I know... but I absolutely love the song Saving Grace!

Don't have an update on the snow, I haven't gone to the front to see lately, busy busy bee here!

Sharon: I thought that was the game you said you had tickets for...Maybe we'll see ya there!
Right now I'm hearing clicking on the windows, so I'm guessing it's switched to sleet or ice pellets. Which sucks, because I just ordered an Italian Poutine from Marie-Joe's and I really don't want to risk my life to go pick it up! Argh!

It's starting to click on the windows here too. I was out at 11 and there's quite a bit of snow for 2 hours of flakes. If you're on the roads and don't have winter tires be careful, I've seen lots of cars and trucks sliding and spinning at the stop signs. I didn't find it slippy, but I went slow anyways. I don't know how anyone can drive without winter tires. I'm anxious to see how much snow we will get up at home, probably twice as much as Shawville.

Yea - overall - its crappy out - it looks slippy out and I'm walking to Rideau - but i have my winter boots! Take my time!
That's good that you got your mom done Jill - i thought i was doing good with Christmas shopping, but apparently, i basically need to get everyone still. I'm not spending much though this year - we have a baby on the way - screw that! LOL
Jill - you made me hungry now for an Italian poutine from Marie-Joe's and im really not close to it - i'm meeting Enjo at Rideau so we'll have a bite to eat there - and i want my Chicken Teriyaki i think!! mmmm
anyways have a good afternoon

OK - I'm back from Marie-Joe's safe & sound. For those of you who have to drive home from work this afternoon - BE CAREFUL!! It's not that bad, but it's quite slushy right now, and the slush was pulling my Rav a bit. Plus, it's one of those days when everybody is trying to drive in the middle of the road. I don't know what it'll be like when you guys are heading home, but those are the road conditions between Mountainview & Marie-Joe's at this time!! Take Care!!

I am really scared. I don't have winter tires on my car yet... just because I decided to Christmas Shop first... so yeah... I think tonight will be QUITE the experience... maybe they will let me leave 30 minutes early seeing as I was 30 minutes early this morning... that would be QUITE nice... but I have high doubts of that.

Jill said...

Don't be scared, Sharon - I'm sure it will be fine. Just take it slow and steady and be careful! By the time you're coming home, all the salt trucks and everything will be in full-force, so don't panic!

Anonymous said...

No not panicking... I go in and out of panic... I will be fine... it's the other drivers that I am afraid of. You know how it is, I can control my driving, but not theirs! They are nuts!

Especially those RAV 4 drivers lol

OH christmas word of the day: Christmastastic!

there is no snow here just wet rain and howling winds. its nasty. I have to walk 10 minutes to the bus from work and I work in industrial Lachine so its wide open. Lucikly someone ran after me on my way out and gave me a lift to the bus shelter. Luckily we have the great invention of the metro here so Christmas shoppping will be very easy this weekend.

I still don't understand what scrapbooking is.
