I'm so mad about hockey right now that I could scream. Or cry. Or both.
So forgive me if this turns out to be a hostile Blog.
I know it's super-late, but I want to re-cap Survivor, so here it is:
When last we convened at Tribal Council, we bid farewell to both Cao Boi of the Whatchamacallit tribe & Christina of the Hot Young Studs. Also, the Studs lost Nate to the the other side in the big "kidnapping" twist. Ooooooh.
So we all met up back at the Reward Challenge, where Nate was allowed to compete with the Whatchamacallits, but they chose to sit him out anyways. This challenge had teams separating into two groups - the swimmers & the puzzle-solvers. The swimmers had to swim out to this big jungle-gym, and using a big stick, jump off the apparatus & knock a key out of six hanging thingamajigs, then swim back to shore. Once all six keys were recovered, they could un-lock their puzzle pieces and allow the puzzle-solvers to do their shit. Inexplicably, Brad chose to be a puzzle-solver for the Studs. Now this might have made sense if, say, JP was still around, or if Nate was allowed to play for them, but Brad's ridiculous move left Adam, "Poverty", and Rebecca as the swimmers. And Rebecca couldn't even survive Round 1. She flopped back to the beach empty-handed and flashing around her honkers.
I'll give credit where credit is due - "Poverty" has annoyed me to no end throughout this year's edition of Survivor, but she showed spunk in this challenge. She took turns with Adam swimming out, she never quit, and she made things interesting, but in the end, they were no match for the strong swimmers on the Whatchamacallit team. They easily took the victory, scoring potatoes & peanut butter. Understandably, the Stud side was baffled and irritated by Brad's decision to be one of the puzzle-solvers, especially considering his strong swimming abilities. It seemed like a pretty lame choice to me. And it even led Nate to call Brad a Nancy-boy, further stirring my suspicions he may be gay, thus eliminating him from being classified as a Hot Young Stud.
But what was even more confusing, was at the Immunity Challenge, where we were once again presented with a swim-then-solve-the-puzzle relay, Brad decided to swim, along with Nate & "Poverty", leaving Adam, Rebecca, and Jenny to solve the puzzle. What happened to his puzzle-maker dreams, huh? Fortunately for him, the Studs staged a come-from-behind win, saving his butt from TC. The Whatchamacallits had their rendez-vous with Jeff around the fire, eventually dousing the flame of the ever-whiny Jessica. Whatever. Glad the twit is gone.
Of greater concern to me was that my poor Adam had to spend a night on Exile Island in the midst of a terrible storm, where he huddled in a fetal position, praying for it to just go away. My, how I wish I'd been there to huddle with him, all snuggled in his big, strong arms...
Alright, moving along to the Amazing Race re-cap:
With Dave & Mary marked for elimination, they had to finish in first this leg or else suffer a 30-minute penalty. So of course, instead of trying to bolt ahead, they spent the entire leg trying to co-ordinate with the rest of their 6-pack alliance. Even when they did get ahead a bit, they usually waited for the Bama girls & the Cho brothers to catch up to them. Now, there's a good strategy for winning $1 Million.
Once arriving in Madagascar, teams came across a new race feature called the Intersection. Teams had to double up to complete the Detour. James & Tyler (soooooo not gay) were fortunate enough to pair up with Rob & Kimberly. They were, however, unfortunate enough to take the Fast Forward, which led them to a street vendor in a yucky meat market, where they each had to consume a heaping plate of cow lips. Mmmmmmmm. So the Fast Forward ended up being the Not-So-Fast-Forward. James downed his lips relatively quickly, followed by Rob, with Tyler trailing behind, and Kimberly, of course, struggling.
Meanwhile, back at the Instersection, Dave & Mary opted to team up with the Bama girls over the Beauty Queens, showing that once again, they really aren't gamers. The Beauty Queens have proven to be efficient and strong competitors, whereas the Bama girls are lucky to even still be there. It was a choice that probably hurt the Kentucky team in the long-run, as they struggled with Bama to carry the big, foam mattresses through the crowded streets of Madagascar. The Barbies & the Cho brothers worked well together, and made quick work of the task.
On to the Road Block, where one team member got to travel to the Pit Stop, while the other had to run up and down a hill looking for people with rubber stamp collections. They needed to find four particular stamps to match the ones on their clue. The Barbie hustled about, very quickly finding her stamps, and then she rushed back to the Pit Stop, where the two of them hit the mat before those poor Fast Forward people, still struggling to swallow their chunks of hairy, toothy cow lips.
At the Not-So-Fast-Forward, Kimberly finally downed the rest of her lips, and they were off. James & Tyler (did I mention they are sooooo not gay?) landed in second place, followed by Rob & Kimberly. Rob, once again, won me over a little mroe - he was extremely patient with Kim this time, and he even seemed lovey-dovey with her as he wrapped his arms around her in the little interview, and then after she finished her lips, he proclaimed, "My chick is the best!" Yeah, Rob...I'm liking you a lot these days.
A few of the teams had problems with their cabbies wanting to stop for gas, including the Cho brothers, who might have finished ahead of the Not-So-Fast-Forwarders too, had it not been for their unfortunate stop at the gas station. They made it to the Pit Stop in fourth place, followed by Dave & Mary. However, due to their 30-minute penalty, they had to stand aside and watch the Bama girls roll in and finish ahead of them. It was a teary time on the mat, as the girls said good-bye to their 6-Pack teammates from Kentucky. I was honestly a little surprised that the Cho brothers didn't pop up and say they'd forfeit their place to allow Dave & Mary to continue racing. It just seemed like something they would do.
So there. Not too hostile, was it? In fact, this has been therapeutic. I haven't even thought about hockey since I started writing. What was the score in that stupid game, anyways?

Well that was a great recap Jill. I only caught bits and peices of 7th Heaven last night I got home at 8:05 from AquaFit and then I made my lunch and clanged around in the kitchen. But basically in a nutshell: The Rev. told Annie and his son in law that he has an enlarged heart. Annie thinks that this can be fixed and that he's not going to die in a year. Lucie went to see annoying Sandy and watched her kid while she went to school and on a date with this guy who say he's in love with her after 5 minutes. After the whole visit, Lucie decides she's ready to try and have another baby after her miscarage of twins in the summer.
So that was that. AquaFit was good. I can feel it in my arms and core muscles this morning. I am going to go and swim laps this afternoon for 30 to 45 minutes and then make some apple struddles at home.
For those of you who like tomatoes and cucumbers please try the following:
toast bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese with tomatoes and cucumber.... mmm mmm fabulous!
HAHAHA the poor senators can't win a hockey game even when they lead by three goals..... Jill i've told you many times there is still room on the PENGUINS band wagon if you are interested..... Sorry to tell you Friday is not going to be any better for your senators.....
No thanks, not ready to jump to the Penguins side yet. But I was REALLY frustrated last night. I'm going to stick with my team, no matter what...But it's starting to look like it might be a really long year. *sigh*
Jill - you're more than welcome to join Ricky Friday evening in watching the Penguins and Sens, but I'm going to make sure I am not there - too stressful for me with you 2. Haha!
Hope everyone is having a good day - does anyone actually know the Cathy Lapointe that was killed in that accident Sunday? Lastnight when I went to my doctors appointment, when Dr MacLellan came in, he was like i dont know but since Cathy Lapointes accident yesterday, I've been so worried about my pregnant patients...everytime one comes in, its a sigh of relief. He said that she wasnt his patient and he didnt really follow her pregnancy but it still scared him - was she pregnant when she was killed or had just had a baby? He was just so worried - as I was leaving, hes like just be very careful on the roads please! LOL - too cute! Regarding my 5 mins doctors appointment - finally getting in at like 8:10 lastnight - blood pressure is fine as usual - weight gain is normal (although i justify that, seeing how 148 doesnt seem normal for me...haha) and the baby is growing at the perfect rate - feeding her well he says and the heart beat is nice and strong!!!
next week, while im on holidays, I have to go and take that disgusting diabetes test which is drinking that disgusting orange powder juice thing. Gives me chills just thinking of it. Anyways, have a good day everyone!
That's weird about Cathy Lapointe...I don't know her at all, but I read in the paper that she was, like, 50, and had two kids in the late teens/early twenties...It never mentioned she was expecting another child. That's nice that Dr. McLellan is concerned for all his pregnant ladies, tho! LOL
And I think I'll watch the game vs. the Penguins from the safety of my own home Friday night. Ricky just really stresses me out watching hockey! I don't have thick enough skin to watch with him right now! And with my team being so fragile...I'd just better stay at home!
Sharon: Love the sound of that bagel! I always eat toasted bagels with the Light herb & garlic cream cheese...Next time, I'll try adding the cucs & tomatoes!
And thanks again for the 7th Heaven re-cap!
Also, glad to hear your Aquafit class was good. Sounds like fun!
You don't remember Nathalie and Aubrey Lapointe from when we were in high school? They are only a couple of years younger than us. I also heard that Cathy had a 'friend', that she was still living with her husband but they were separated and she had this other man in her life. I guess the rumours really get around when stuff like this happens.
Oh - Natalie and Aubrey Lapointe - is that their mother - i do remember them...hmm maybe Dr MacLellan just thinks of his pregnant women because of accidents that hit close to home...who knows - pretty sad stuff though...kinda scary too to know that it was like the first snowfall - i guess if anything it was more slush. And Jill - i would say its safe to stay at home also to watch your game...you know Ricky just as well as me.
I recognize those Lapointe girls' names, but I can't remember them, and I had no idea Cathy was their mother. It is all very sad, for sure.
PK: I wanted to ask if you saw the thing up at Curves for the Christmas dinner at Cafe 349. I was thinking it might be fun to go, and I was wondering if you might want to come with. My mom already said she doesn't want to...Just thought I'd check with you.
Sorry Jill but I am not interested in going to the Curves Christmas dinner. What is the date for it anyways? I might have something on. My weeks up to Christmas seem to be filling up quite fast. I've never been this busy at this time of year before.
That's cool, just thought I'd check. It's Dec. 1st - I've never been to Cafe 349, I'd like to try it out some time.
The Cafe is supposed to be really good, but a bit pricy. I've never eaten there before. Actually that is my only weekend off. And I think that is during my housesitting time too. The weekend before is the murder mystery, then the 9th I will probably be going to Toronto again for Chad's xmas party, then the 16th is the potluck, then the 23rd is almost Christmas! Next Thursday is the Guns n' Roses concert ALREADY, I can't believe it, and I think there is a pay-per-view UFC on the 18th. With all these events, Christmas will be here before I know it. And I still have to find time for shopping in those weekends.
Hi
Glad to hear the baby is doing great Stacy. I don't think Cathy Lapointe was pregnant.. she was kinda older. Saturday Kelly's friend Katrina called our house and asked for "cathy" but then realized she had called Kelly instead. Quite a few of kelly's friends were close to her and into horses. So it was kinda weird that the next day she was killed. Kelly actually had to be te eone who told Katrina about it yesterday at school. Alot of the kids at school here were close to her as well, but being kids they are more concerned about who will teach them horseback riding than the fact that she is dead.
Where do you take Aqua fit Sharon? How many times a week and stuff? Sounds cool. how is your house coming along?
Jill- what is wrong with the sens? I can't believe this. Matthew has even bought a leafs hat and gloves for winter....he's moving to the other side. You are going to hate my family.. Kelly was always into the leafs, and now Matthew and DAD have switched to the leafs.
Oh- for the anonymous comment after mine yesterday about the terrorists...it's a long story but they do really weird things and some of the neighbors think they act like terrorists.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
I'm warning you, Sara, Graham is brainwashing your family! Poor Matthew...He's too young to know better. And seeing your dad is from TO, that can be understood. Oh well, not like the Sens are doing much to change people's minds right now. Just lovely. It's really pissing me off. (But not pissing me off enough to stop cheering for them. They're still my team).
Hope you & the kiddies are having a good day!
Well Hello Sara
Hope everyone is having a spectactular day!!!
I know, Dad isn't being brainwashed, but Matthew is for sure. He has just started calling them the leafs, up until now they were the "blue team" shows how much he knows about hockey....
But it's good that you are being loyal to your team...my dad always said that leaf fans were pretty loyal cause they never give up on their team even though they haven't won a stanley cup in ages. And they fill up the ACC to see their losing team all the time. And he thinks sens fans only show support when they win. So he will be happy to know you are still going strong.
Anyways, Mr. Aitken called me yesterday to see if I would supply teach for the day..too bad I was at daycare cause I could have made big bucks!!
The house is coming along slow. We are hoping to have heat by the end of next week... finally.
As for the highway, it wasn't closed, it was re-routed down my road and out the Wilson line. That's the 3rd time since we have lived here that it has been closed.
Who are these terrorists back home... do they live at the store?
BREAKING NEWS REGARDING THE SENS:
ATLANTA - The Senators could have a new look tomorrow night against the Thrashers.
With trade rumours swirling and GM John Muckler at meetings in Toronto, coach Bryan Murray changed all his lines at practice this morning after the club blew a 3-0 lead against the Washington Capitals, losing 4-3 in overtime.
Captain Daniel Alfredsson was reunited with Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza while Mike Fisher was on a line with Peter Schaefer and Chris Neil. The third line is made up of Chris Kelly at centre with Antoine Vermette and Patrick Eaves while the fourth line was Denis Hamel, Dean McAmmond and Brian McGrattan.
It's expected defenceman Wade Redden, who has missed four games with a nagging groin injury, will return to the lineup.
Thanks for that little newsflash, Stacy...Things are going to get interesting. I'll be shocked if there isn't a trade made soon. But very glad to hear Wade's on his way back. We could sure use him. I just hope he plays better than he did in the first few games.
But I'm pretty sure you don't care, right? LOL ;o)
Who do you think they would trade Jill?
And I hope that they beat the butts off the penguins on Friday. I hate the penguins. I don't know how anyone could like them.
Further more I was so sure they would beat the Capitals last night as they are not normally a strong team.
Something HAS GOT to change. Maybe when my house finally has heat we can have a SENS party night. With dip. lol
Well i dont know - Penguins may not be the number one team but they are winning more and playing better than ottawa right now. Ricky - what do you think of that comment about the Penguins?? Washington isnt too much of a weaker team if they managed to score 3 goals in the last period and the winning one in overtime = anyways this is why i dont enjoy hockey!
Oh no, it's happening to Stacy too. Graham's brainwashing Sara's family, now Ricky is brainwashing Stacy...LOL...
To be honest, most teams are playing better than the Sens right now, so it's kind of hard to argue. I just have to keep believing that eventually they'll turn things around. There's too much talent on this team for this basement dwelling to continue. I really thought the way things started last night in DC that we were finally going to get back on track, and then it all came falling in again. I never thought we'd lose to the Caps.
As for who will be traded: The names being mentioned are Volchenkov & Schubert. (And of course, Alfie, but he's not going anywhere - I guarantee that). I'd hate to lose either one of them, but I guess if help is needed, we have no choice.
I hate the Leafs, I dislike the Penguins...And to be honest, when I'm losing, I hate talking about hockey in general.
Oh, and even though the Pens may be playing better than the Sens lately, I do believe they suffered the same fate as we did last night by losing in OT - so really no need to brag, right, Ricky???? ;p
Everyone should just relax about Ottawa.... It's only a matter of time until they break out of the slump and move up the standings..... just a note... if they were to win their next 4 games they will have played the same number of games as the LAAFS and will be just 2 points behind them. As for players being traded it could be interesting... After the way Volchenkov played last night I wouldn't want to see him go but I think I could handle them getting rid of Schubert ( he takes too many costly penalties).... they need a second line center... Craig Conroy would be a good addition.... anyways, i've probably just bored you all with this hockey talk... lol
Luke
Oh wow, Luke showed up and didn't tell any stupid stories about me... I do agree that all the Sens fans need to relax. Like, sheesh, we're not even 20 games in to the season yet, and everyone's going retarded. But I do recall you, my dear brother, throwing a hissy fit as we left the Bank way back on October 12th, which was game # FOUR. So I hope you're going to take your own advice & RELAX. hahaha...
Yes, but at that time they weren't scoring goals... now they are and it's only a matter of time!! I could tell a story if you want me to.
You don't have any more stories.
Thank you for the information Luke.
Oh and Sara, forgot to respond about AquaFit, I got to the Nepean Sportsplex... but I can go to any Ottawa City Pool I will be also going to Pinecrest on Thursdays and Kanata on Fridays.
Jill even though you didn't ask me I would go to the Curves dinner thingy if I didn't live three hours away...lol.
Oh and about your Sens...I wouldn't be so sure this will be a long year for them. I'm just dreading them getting their act together. And bad news for my Habs, Chris Higgins will be out 6 weeks...argh.
Kathleen: If you didn't live 3 hours away, I would have asked you to come to the Curves dinner thingy...lol...
As for the Habs - Haven't paid much attention to be honest, other than to know they're ahead of me in the standings. But then again, who isn't? Oh yes. Philly. They still suck worse than the Sens. Sorry to hear about Higgins. I guess that's one area the Sens have been rather fortunate thus far, with the exception of Wade's poor groin & Schaefer's hip trouble - virtually injury-free so far! I hope it's not a long year, but it's already been a long couple of weeks...
well if you go to the Curves dinner thingy consider me there in spirit. Now, I have one extra ticket for Dylan tomorrow night as my group is down from 4 to 3. I'm guessing you wouldn't even be interested in making an appearance in spirit?
Higgins has been awesome this year, he is their leading scorer but he also plays amazing well at both ends of the ice. It makes me sad just to think of it. I don't even want to listen (yes, listen) to the game tonight.
little bit random...but did I tell you I found myself a new job cause I was hating the last one so much? 54% raise, english environment and a free cell phone. I just feel like passing along the info to everyone. haha.
Congrats on the new job! And what about that - er, gentleman friend you had? I should really email you, the Bloggers out there will have no clue what we're talking about!
And nah, you can find someone else's spirit for the Dylan ticket. I haven't "discovered" him yet...haha...but here in Ottawa he's got the Foo Fighters on his bill...I'd love to see them!
ahhh the older gentleman is a long story that I don't want to get it into now in front of everyone. well its not anything near juicy, but still. (yeah! email me!).
the Foo Fighters are on the bill here too. Not really looking forward to them though. I hate opening acts, had to sit through some wanker called Sean Na Na on back to back nights when I saw the Hold Steady two weekends ago. Not cool at all.
Let me know when you discover Dylan so I can say "I told you so!"
