Festive Friday Confessions

It’s November 30th.  Almost December.   And, also, it’s the company Christmas Party today – officially the day the guys in the office let me start singing Christmas Carols without telling me to shut my festering gob!  Woo Hoo!! ;)

But before this busy, fun, festive weekend begins… let’s Confess.

FridayConfessionalMamarazzi

I confess…that I have a lot to do tomorrow, so I’m intending on actually behaving tonight at the Christmas Party.  I need to finish up my shopping, and the last thing I want to do is tackle Wal-Mart…hungover.  So tonight, I shall prove that I can still have fun without releasing Sadie from her cage.  I love a challenge! ;)

I confess… that I am, once again, in credit card debt.  How the HECK did this happen?!?  We drew names this year.  There was a spending cap.  It’s never been so easy to stick to a damned budget, and yet somehow… I’m way, way over my limit.

I confess… that it *may* be because I bought a few too many “presents” for myself.  Oops.  Oh, and ALSO… DAMN the License Bureau and my last name starting with “Y” because I have to pay my vehicle registration every year at the end of November.  Perfect time to take $250 out of my bank account, License Bureau.  Thanks a lot.  *sigh*

I confess… that I get mild panic attacks when I look ahead to the busy weekends coming up in the first half of December.  I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to cram everything in, but I keep reminding myself it’s all fun stuff.  Deep breaths, be grateful for so many family & friends…and enjoy it.

I confess… that I kind of fell asleep on the couch around 8:30 last night.  In the middle of The Vampire Diaries.  I never fall asleep during The Vampire Diaries!!!  I slept through Grey’s too, and was sure I’d be awake all night thanks to my impromptu nap, but actually konked out again when my head hit the pillow at 10 PM, and slept right through to my alarm.  Apparently I needed that?

I confess… that I haven’t watched a Christmas movie yet.  This is unusual for me.  Hopefully I can keep my eyes open long enough to watch one or two this weekend.  I’m itching to start watching them.

I confess… that as my on-line orders keep rolling in each day this week, I get a little thrill.  Each new parcel that arrives makes me so excited to cross a name off my list and get wrapping!!

I confess… that I really think my true calling in life was to be one of Santa’s elves.  There is nothing I love more than this time of year – the decorations and lights, the treats and food, the music and Christmas specials, the wrapping and the presents, the festive drinks, the friends, and the family… :)

And so, seeing how it’s almost December, allow me to say, for the first time this holiday season… Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!!! ;)

home alone

…And have great weekend, too.

Um, $250 for your vehicle registration!!! That is MADNESS! I thought mine was high at $65 a year.

Carly Ann this is Quebec, we are a socialist, bureaucratic nightmare drowning in corruption and red tape.

The governments didn't think this out very clear... spend all your money on Christmas to keep the countries a float but hey while you're at it pay personal property taxes and property taxes because of course you're all made of money..... :) I'm not bitter.... or maybe I am :)

Taxes are necessary, but its all about balance and spending it on the right things. Hiring more Language Nazis or making sure neverending UQAM sexology degrees remain dirt cheap should not be priority when people are dying waiting for cancer treatments and the bridges and overpasses are collapsing or threatening to collapse in Montreal.
In Quebec we get 1.45$ for every 1$ we send to the feds in equalization payments and we have the highest taxes in North America. Yet somehow we have Greece level debt. Hmmm.

Sorry Jill that was not a very Christmasy post.

You are so far ahead with all your Christmas stuff. The only thing I've got on you is some Christmas baking, and I've watched a few holiday movies. Have not bought a single thing! I think I have decided to boycott Wal-Mart this year. Trying to buy local as much as I can. Walmart just makes me so made every time I step in a store.

As for ringing up debt, I have to time for that. No matter how high my credit card goes I pay that shit off every month. I have my student debt which is 2/3 paid off and thats it. I don‘t believe in debt, I don‘t believe in buying stuff I can‘t afford. The middle class has spent itself out of middle classness the last 20 years. So no, I don‘t believe in debt. I am like Paul Martin, all about surplus. True quality of living is walking into work knowing that if you lose your job the poor house is a long way off.

My mother will probably read that last comment and wish you were her daughter instead of me. The preaching on "not spending money you don't have" has never quite reached me for some reason...

Have fun at your Christmas party!
WE get hit in august for just about all our vehicle tags/taxes. For us it's when you bought the car. Although in some counties in our state it's all done during one month--so no matter when you bought the vehicle, you pay in say February.

I have been watching Christmas movies every night this week and it is driving the Rev nuts! He is not a big fan of Lifetime or the Hallmark channel!

P.S. I don't drink but visits to WalMart convince me that I should, good luck!

I haven't used my credit card yet this year but mainly because it's maxed out from our trip to Orlando. Oops!

The beauty of saving money on all the small things you don‘t really need is that it leaves room for those bigger purchases you value. For instance, I finally gave in and bought a down jacket for the winter. Cost me A LOT of money but I‘m loving it everyday.
It is pretty easy, its just about making a budget and having willpower. And no, I‘m neither cheap nor rich. Your mom is correct!

My problem ends up being spending too much on myself while shopping for others too... Spoiled!

Happy Friday!

YIKES that is some pricey registration!

And we all end up in debt on ourselves at one time or another! Only live once, might as well have fun!

Oh Jill...my husband's car taxes and registration are due in December every year, too. And every year, it seems to surprise him when the bill comes around.

Can't believe you fell asleep during VD! Hope you at least were able to catch the ending because I'm about to spoil it! Damon and Elena finally get naughty. Honestly not sure how I'm feeling about this.
