Confessions: Shawville Fair Edition

You know what today is.  Linking up with Mamarazzi for some Friday Confessions:  Shawville Fair Edition.

FridayConfessionalMamarazzi

I confess…I had no intentions of going to the Fair last night.  But Josee twisted my arm.

I confess…that last night may have been the first night I’ve ever spent at the Shawville Fair and did NOT take part in the delicious Fair food.  I watched my friends eating deep-fried Oreos, deep-fried dill pickles, cheeseburgers…Josee even literally DANGLED her Beavertail in my face.  (that sounds mildly dirty)…  And I did not succumb.

I confess…that while it was difficult, it was worth it when I stepped on the scales this morning and saw that I’d lost another pound since I weighed myself Tuesday.

I confess…weighing myself has become an obsession.

I confess…that my original goal was to only eat a *few* fair foods this weekend.  A 4H cheeseburger.  A slice of Billy T’s pizza. And a Beavertail.  Those were my limits.  I have now made a new goal:  NO FAIR FOOD AT ALL.  Just Diet Pepsi.  Think I can do it??  I don’t think so.

Fair Food

I confess…that I think the stand that sells the Blooming Onion is nuts.  Even if I was dying for a Blooming Onion, I WOULD NOT PAY YOU $8 FOR ONE, YOU CRAZY PEOPLE.

I confess…that instead of eating at the fair, I went shopping.  Country Charm had a booth set up in one of the exhibition halls.  I bought two cute Fall signs for $0.99/each and a Christmas sign for $1.99.  You can’t find those kinds of deals in stores, people!

I confess…that after standing in the petting zoo barn and watching the little goats practically diving through the bars to get to the kiddies with their hands full of goat food, I think they must starve those poor baby animals.  I feel your pain, little goats.

I confess…that I haven’t bought a ride pass to the Fair since I was in high school, and every year since, while wandering through the Midway, I regret it.  I miss being a kid.  I miss the Round-Up.  And the Scrambler.  And the Gravitron.  And the Tilt-a-Whirl.

I confess…that I’m more excited to meet the new Baby Cousins on Saturday than I am about the Fair.  That being said, Dean Brody will be a nice way to end the day.  He’s kinda hot.

I confess…that I really don’t think I’ve ever heard of Honeymoon Suite, the headliner tonight.  Seriously, who the hell are they?!  And does their hair still look like this?!?!?!

I confess…that for the first time in years, I’m contemplating skipping the Demolition Derby on Monday at the Fair.  Honestly?  I go up there every year, and end up coming home hot, tired, dirty, and wondering why the hell I spent my long-weekend-day-off watching cars smash into each other.  The real reason is the last chance at Fair food.  And since I’m giving that up, there’s no reason to go.

See?  It always comes back to food with me…

I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend, and if you’re at the Fair, hope to see you there! :)

I think it would be unreasonable to not have ANY fair food! But I still think you could do it if you wanted! Maybe just pick one of the three that you want the most!

P.S After reading this post, I really want to go to the fair tonight! Car Pool?

P.S.S
0.99 for signs!!? MUST SHOW ME TONIGHT!

The one fair food I love in the summer is the kettle korn. Real hot, sweet, salty fresh kettle korn. It's the one I must have every summer. At least once.
The rest of the fair food I can pass on. Although those beaver tails look really good.

Good for you for not succumbing to the fair food! You can do it-Diet Pepsi all the way! It feels soooo good to get on that scale & see a LOWER number than last time! Go Jill =)

Woohoooo another pound! And I agree, for a bloomin onion, $8... I'm not even sure they are that at Outback (big chain restaurant here if y'all don't have them) and some of their prices are high.

Resist the fair food Jill - you are doing so well! I think the only day we might get to the fair is Monday - lol.... I am super excited about meeting the little cousins, too.

That's awesome!

I couldn't go to the fair without getting a funnel cake.

What is a beaver tail??

Blooming onions are like $7 here, and I gladly fork over the change. It's the only time I get one!!!

I didn't get to any fairs this year, and I'm OK with that. They get expensive!!!

You're doing so great with your weight loss, keep up the great work girl!

Deep fried Oreos? Ewwww. LOL

Honeymoon Suite were HUGE when I was in highschool in the 80's. Still love them and they sound pretty much the same after all these years. My guess is the lead singers will still be wearing his nut busters. LMAO
