Friday the 13th Confessions

Time for a little Friday the 13th confess sesh, don’t ya think?

friday confessional

Linking up with Aubrey @ High-Heeled Love!

I confess… that I’m not an extremely superstitious person.  However, the events of 1:30 AM this morning lead me to believe that I have been victimized by this particular Friday the 13th.  At 1:30 AM, I needed to pee.  I got up, went to the washroom, and upon returning to my room in my half-asleep stupor, I slammed right into the end of my dresser.  The set-up of my room was re-configured a few weeks ago when I got new bedroom furniture from my aunt, but you’d think I’d be used to it by now?  Apparently not.  Anyways… after hopping around muttering “ow, ow, ow”, I then reached for my water cup, and promptly sent it flying.  It shattered in the middle of the floor.  Oh, and did I mention, it was completely full.  Hence, I had a lake to clean up in the middle of my room, as well as a ton of little shards of hard plastic.  I *may* have cursed a blue streak.  And then, after the ten minutes it took to sop the whole thing up with paper towels and a mop, I was wide awake and couldn’t fall back asleep.  Happy Friday the 13th, Jill.

Friday the 13th

I confess… that was a really long confession.

I confess… that I’m afraid to say it for fear of jinxing the whole thing, but I do believe I’m extremely close to getting my satellite dish issues resolved.  Hopefully I’ll be up and running by next week with a PVR.  It would be a dream come true…

I confess… that I definitely shouldn’t have mentioned it.  It’s Friday the 13th.  I definitely just jinxed it all.

I confess… that last night, my 5K jog seemed to go really well and I thought I was running super-fast (like, flames flying from my heels fast), and that I’d for SURE come in under 30 minutes this time.  And instead, I finished in the exact same time as the last time.  I was a little sad.

vector-of-overweight-girl-sweating-and-jogging-by-bnp-design-studio-3442

I confess… that I consoled myself with a heaping huge plate of spaghetti afterwards.

Spaghe-Bolog_793727c

I confess… that I felt kinda rude last night when I was out jogging and I saw a friend pulling up in his car as I approached, and he rolled down the window for a chat.  I called out hello and kept on running.  I could hear him shouting something to me, but with my earbuds in, I couldn’t hear what he was saying, and I just pretended I didn’t hear him at all.  I’m really trying to work on my time, and the pause would’ve buggered it all up.  I hope he understood.

I confess… that yesterday, I was reminded why I don’t go on Pinterest very often.  And that is because Pinterest will make me fat again.

Meatball sandwich casserole

Fall Kit Kat Cake No Jill.  Just… No.

I confess…  that Candy Crush on Facebook is the devil and I hate that it has sucked me in.

I confess… that I keep thinking of how I really do want to have my “old-school-cheesy-movie-marathon day” sometime soon.  The only problem is, thinking of those movies also makes me think of food.  In particular, junk food.  So I’ve set myself a little goal.  I usually don’t like to reward myself with food treats, BUT…if I reach the next goal I’ve set for my weight loss (which is the supreme-ultimate-never-though-I-could-do-it goal, and it’s now only 8 pounds away…) I will treat myself to that movie marathon with all the junky snacks that I associate with them.  Just for one day.

I confess… that I’m TOTALLY cool with the chilly weather that has descended upon us today.  Feels like FALL, and I love it!!

I confess… that I’m really looking forward to going out to dinner and going to see Lee Daniels’ The Butler tonight with some of my fam-jam!!  What a great way to kick off the weekend!! :)

Dexter, Season 3: Two more reasons to be hooked on this show.

That’s right, folks.  I’m into Season 3 – well into Season 3 – of Dexter.  And I’m more hooked than ever.

The reason?  Well, it isn’t because of Jimmy Smits, who joined the cast for this particular season as the Assistant District Attorney, Miguel Prado.  (Although, I’m sure for a lot of people who were watching it in real time, having a TV heavy-weight like Smits in the cast was a pretty big deal).

DEXTER (Season 3)

No.  Smits isn’t the one getting me fired up to watch Dexter each night.  (Although, his character and the relationship he’s made with Dexter is definitely interesting).

For me, it’s not one, but TWO others who have drawn me in, and I’ve become increasingly excited over their roles and storylines.

As if Michael C. Hall wasn’t already enough on his own…

Dexter-Star-Michael-C-Hall-Is-Battling-Cancer-2

It’s hard for me to blog about this, though.  As I’ve said before, I’m trying not to google anything Dexter-related, to avoid spoilers and ruining plotline surprises for myself.  Googling Prison Break – even searching for images of the show – proved a huge mistake, and I’ve learned my lesson.

But today, I just had to do a quick search on these guys, because they are making Season 3 so great for me.  And I just had to share.  (Don’t worry, anyone who is watching Dexter right now like me *ahem*Lindsay* – I’m going to try not to give anything big away!)

Exhibit A:  Detective Joey Quinn (played by Desmond Harrington)

joey quinn

When Quinn was introduced in Season 3, I wasn’t sure what to make of him.  At first I thought he was going to be a love interest for Deb (Dexter’s police officer sister, played by Jennifer Carpenter).  Then I thought maybe he was a bad guy, like a corrupt cop or something.  Now, half-way through Season 3?  I just think he’s going to become a good friend to Deb, despite the friction between them (he’s currently her partner on the force), and just an all-round great addition to the cast.  Where will his storyline go?  I have no idea.  But so far… me likes.  Me likes a lot.

Exhibit B: Anton Briggs (played by David Ramsey)

anton

Anton is actually brought in during Season 3 as one of Quinn’s CI’s (a Confidential Informant) – a pot-smoking, suave musician who Quinn once cut a deal with.  Quinn had once busted him on drug-related charges, and then dropped the charges under the condition that Anton become a CI for the police.   As Deb works to get a lead on a case, Quinn sends her Anton’s way, and they have instant chemistry.  Looks like Anton is going to become Deb’s love interest for this season, which is both good and bad.  Good, in that he’s sexy as hell.  Bad, in that Deb’s romantic liaisons never seem to end well.  I’m trying not to get my hopes up, and trying not to google it, but GOD I hope Anton survives Season 3…

david-ramsey

OK.  That was hard.  Google is the DEVIL.  I saw pictures I shouldn’t have seen… things that I’m not supposed to know yet… Gah!  So HARD!!!!

Jill’s Top 10 Cheesy, Silly Old-School Movies

Yesterday, I mentioned how I longed to spend the dreary day at home in comfy clothes, watching cheesy old movies.

Confession: I’ve actually been wanting to do that for a while now.  In fact, I’ve been thinking a lot lately of the movies I loved to watch when I was a kid – I’m talking late ‘80s/early ‘90s.  Many of them were probably movies I shouldn’t have been watching at such a young  age, but I loved ‘em.   And the sillier the better!!

There was nothing I loved more back then than going down to St-Laurent’s store to rent a movie – and oftentimes, I’d rent the same one over and over.  I also had another great resource in my friend Stacy.  When we were kids, she always had the best suggestions for movies – and usually had them on video for me to borrow!

I thought I’d compile a list of some of my favourites for you today.  But before I get started, I wanted to make a clarification.  As you go through my list, you might think I’ve forgotten hits from the late ‘80s or early ‘9os such as Dirty Dancing or Top Gun or Pretty Woman – and here’s why they didn’t make my list:  because I actually consider them really awesome movies that have withstood the test of time, even though they might be a little dated now.

The ones on my list?  They are ridiculously dated, chock-full of cheese, and yet, still make me grin from ear to ear.  And yes.  I’d like to be at home right now, with a bowl of macaroni, tomato soup and cheez whiz (fave lunch as a kid), watching them all.  My very own childhood-fave-movie-marathon!!  Somebody get me my VCR!!!!

Let the trip down memory lane begin.  Here we go, in no particular order…

Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985) – starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, and Lee Montgomery

gjwhf

This was the first flick I recall loving that wasn’t animated and didn’t come from Disney.  It had everything a little girl could hope for: great music, lots of dancing, and a very handsome young leading man (first crush was Chachi…second was this guy).  I hadn’t seen it – or even thought of it – in a very, very long time.  But a few years ago, I stumbled across it on Amazon, bought it on DVD, and was instantly transported back to my youth.  I didn’t even realize that Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt were the stars!

girls just want to have fun movie

Overboard (1987) – starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

overboard

I can’t remember where I was introduced to this one (Stace?  Was it one of yours?) – but I do remember it being a riot!!  Goldie plays a rich bitch who falls overboard off her yacht and ends up in a little hick town suffering from amnesia.  Kurt plays a widower/carpenter who was slighted by Goldie, and upon seeing her as a “Jane Doe” on the news, decides to seek revenge and claim her as his wife, and puts her in charge of his unruly children.  All kinds of hijinx ensue, of course!  I haven’t seen it in ages, but recently saved it to my Amazon wishlist.  I’m looking forward to watching it again someday soon!

overboard 2

Look Who’s Talking (1989) – starring John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, and the voice of Bruce Willis

look who's talking

This was definitely one I used to borrow from Stacy on VHS, and I now own the DVD – and I’m not ashamed to say I watch it once or twice a year!  I had a huge crush on Travolta as a kid, and I have to say, for it’s time, the whole talking baby bit was pretty clever – especially with Bruce Willis doing the all the baby wise-cracking!

Look-Who-s-Talking-look-whos-talking-18111195-2560-1680

Weekend at Bernie’s (1989) – starring Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman

weekend-at-bernie-s-original1

This one’s just about as crazy as you can get – and that’s saying a lot for the cornball comedies of the late ‘80s!  It’s a convoluted plot that’s hard to explain, but let’s just say two young businessmen are invited to their boss’ beach house for the weekend.  However, once they arrive, they discover he’s been murdered.  They spend the weekend partying with Bernie’s neighbours and running from hitmen and the mafia… all while pretending Bernie’s still kickin’.  I really don’t know why I’m explaining it, though.  You’ve all seen it.  Admit it.  And you loved it too.

Harry and the Hendersons (1987) – starring John Lithgow and Melinda Dillon

harry and the hendersons

Confession:  I’m a bit of a Big Foot nut.  For as long as I can remember, I’ve been intrigued by “Sasquatch lore”.  If I see anything on TV about it, I’m sucked in.  I once did a public speaking assignment in elementary school on Big Foot.  Sometimes, I just google Big Foot to see what I can find.  So really…no surprise that this one was one of my favourites to borrow from Stace back in the day, right?  I was destined to love a movie that has a family bring home Big Foot to live with them!!

harryandthehendersons

Son-In-Law (1993) – starring Pauly Shore and Carla Gugino

son in law

I wouldn’t be a child of the ‘80s/’90s if I didn’t have a soft spot for Pauly Shore, right?  Right?!?!  OK, so maybe he was an acquired taste. ;)  I’d actually say that Bio-Dome was my favourite from Pauly, but it didn’t come along until later on in the ‘90s.  This one definitely falls into that category of supreme cheesiness, and slightly inappropriate for a 10-year-old to be watching it… but oh, did I watch it.  Over and over and over again!

son-in-law

Adventures in Babysitting (1987) – starring Elisabeth Shue

Adventures_In_Babysitting

I actually used to be a little bit scared of this one – I mean, this poor baby-sitter and the kids she’s minding end up in some pretty crazy, nail-biting situations, all in one night!  But they used to show it on TV all.the.time. – and I never missed it.  Another one that now sits in my DVD collection, and I swear I’m not ashamed!

Adventures-in-Babysitting-copy

Wayne’s World (1992) – starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey

wayne's world

Alright, so maybe this one could still be considered an early-90s “classic” – along the same lines of Ace Ventura, Pet Detective – but I’m including it on my cheesy list anyways.  I don’t know how many catch phrases it spawned - “Sha-wing!”, anybody? – and it was one of those movies that I rented pretty much every single weekend for a whole year.  My dad would take us down to St. Laurent’s, and I’d pick Wayne’s World, and he’d roll his eyes, and demand why I wanted to watch the same dumb movie over and over.  I really don’t know why, but I loved it.  I guess, in a way, I even subconsciously named my blog after this movie… Sh’yeah!!!

waynes-world-1

Major League (1989) – starring Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen, Wesley Snipes, and Rene Russo

major league

I grew up with a younger brother who loved sports movies – thus, my youth was filled with movies like the Mighty Ducks flicks, The Sandlot, and Rookie of the Year.  And, of course, Major League.  It doesn’t quite fall into the “kids movie” category – I’m thinking it must’ve been my older sister that introduced us to this one! - but we watched it.  A lot.  Annnnd I might’ve had a little crush on Charlie Sheen as Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn.  I didn’t realize just how dated it was until I picked it up on DVD last year.  And oozing with cheese…just the way I like it.

majorleague

Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead (1991) – starring Christina Applegate

dont-tell-mom-the-babysitters-dead-movie-poster-1991-1020213158

This one’s gotta be one of my all-time favourites.  I watch it often.  It was one I used to borrow from Stacy on VHS, and now have in my DVD collection.  It stars Christina Applegate as the eldest of five siblings, who are left under an ancient baby-sitter’s care while their mother travels to Australia for the summer.  The kids fear they won’t have any summer fun, but their vacation just might be salvaged when “the old hag” drops dead…as long as they can keep the secret from their mother!  And once again… hijinx ensue…  It’s barrel of fun, I tell ya!

Dont_Tell_Mom_the_Babysitters_Dead_15626_Medium

So, my fellow children of the late-‘80s and early-‘90s… What did I miss?  What cheeseball faves make your lists??  I’m sure I’ve forgotten some, so please do share! :)  And if you’re a child from another era – what movies transport you back to your youth?

Let the movie marathons begin!!!

The Dreary Tuesday Random…

  • I had a vision this morning.  A beautiful vision.  When I awoke in my dark room to the sound of rain drops gently pattering against my window, I imagined what it would be like to turn the alarm off and snuggle deeper beneath my cozy comforter.  I’d just lie there awhile and listen.  Eventually, I would sit up, switch on the lamp, and get lost in the book I just started last night, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (which I can already tell I’m going to love, thanks for the recommendation Sharon!).  At some point, I’d get up, and change into comfy clothes, make a cup of delicious Timothy’s Cinnamon Pasty in my Keurig, then spend the rest of the day watching cheesy old movies and episodes of Dexter, making a pot of spaghetti sauce to simmer on the stove, and perhaps even baking something like muffins or banana bread.
  • It was a beautiful vision.  But alas, the alarm squawked, and that beautiful vision was shattered.

agree-office-workplace-ecard-someecards

  • It’s OK, though.  I’m already looking forward to a little condensed version of my “vision” after work today.  I’m going to do a quick work-out right after work, then the rest of the evening will be spent relaxing.  I took a container of spaghetti sauce out of the freezer this morning (not the same as having one simmering on the stove all day, but ah well), and so I’ll enjoy my spaghetti supper and my quality time with Dexter AND my book tonight! ;)
  • It’s actually quite a deceiving day out there – looks so grey and cold and drear, but it’s actually going to be really hot & humid.  So probably not a bright idea to have the oven on baking all day anyways, right?
  • I finished reading Room by Emma Donoghue on Sunday evening, and while I was completely captivated by it and read it very quickly, it was disturbing and left me feeling very unsettled at times – which, I suppose, was the author’s intent.  I was absolutely riveted.  But anyone who has read it I’m sure can understand why I chose a lighter romance for my next read!
  • OK.  So.  I kinda forgot to blog about something important last week.  And that was about the casting of the roles of Christian & Anastasia in the 50 Shades movie.  They finally revealed who will play them, and I was so.so.disappointed.  I’d made it clear from Day 1 that there really was only one Christian in my mind, and that was the ever-sexy Ian Somerhalder.  I guess I just set myself up for that disappointment by settling on ONLY one possible Mr. Grey.  Charlie Hunnam?  OK, I know, Sons of Anarchy fans.  He’s hot.  I know.  But HE’S NOT FRIGGIN CHRISTIAN GREY.  Not even close.

charlie and ian

  • But yes, I’m probably still going to see it.  I can guarantee that I won’t be happy about it, though.  It was Somerhalder or bust…
  • Yesterday, I was kind of cranky.  I knew this.  I detected it in myself.  But I couldn’t seem to keep a leash on it.  I felt growly and discontent all day, and I knew I wasn’t hiding it very well.  At the end of the day, one of my co-workers said, “Tired, Jill?  You seem tired today.”  Truth be told, I wasn’t tired.  At all.  Just cranky.  And then I felt bad that it had obviously oozed out of me so much during the day.  I’ll make an effort to be more pleasant today!
  • I’m less than two weeks away from my first 5K.  The Army Run is on September 22nd.  I’ve been working on improving my time for a few weeks now, but since I usually clocked in somewhere between 35 and 36 minutes, I figured my original hope of running it in under 30 minutes was impossible.  Then suddenly, on Saturday morning, I managed to do it in just over 34 minutes.  And last night?  32 minutes 47 seconds.  I’m getting closer… it might actually still be possible!

army-run_590

  • Today is my brother’s 28th birthday, so I’m sending birthday wishes Luke’s way!  We celebrated on the weekend with an awesome brunch (I’m still dreaming of the sticky buns and pancakes and scrambled eggs and bacon and cheesy hashbrown casserole… mmmmmm….)  Hope you have a GREAT day, brother!!
  • Here’s a pic of me and my fave kiddos from the weekend… I’m one lucky auntie!! :)

Jill and kids

Well, I think that’s all the random I have on this dreary Tuesday.  Off to make myself a cup of tea… Enjoy your day, folks!

I still have no TV. But thank God it’s Friday.

Friday.  Not the best Friday in the history of the world, because I STILLLLL can’t watch my TV.  But hey, it’s not a terrible day, because… well.  It is Friday.
Let’s confess…
friday confessional
Linking up with Aubrey @ High-Heeled Love!
I confess… I had almost given up hope last night - despite two phone calls from my satellite repair man to promise me he hadn’t forgotten me – that he was never going to show.  But he did.  In the dark, around 8:30 PM.  It took him all of 10 minutes to tell me my signal was perfect; that the problem was my receiver.  It is fried.  I need a new one.  So after all this, I STILL have no TV.  *sigh*
no tv
I confess… that nothing frustrates me more than things that just don’t work.  Cars that break down.  Washing machines that blow up.  Satellite dish receivers that get fried.  Life is just skipping merrily along and all is right in the world, and then BAM!!! - one of these (usually costly) inconveniences crop up.  And we have no control over when they happen.  Gah.
I confess… that I DO realize there are way bigger problems in the world right now.  Like Syria.  And Miley Cyrus.  Forgive me for dwelling on this one, folks.  It really is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.
NEW YORK, NY - AUGUST 25: (EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE) Miley Cyrus attends the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at the Barclays Center on August 25, 2013 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/WireImage for MTV)
I confess… that I got up at 5:30 AM this morning to work out.  I avoid getting up earlier than normal like the plague, but because I wasted two nights this week sitting around for nothing, I had to squeeze TurboFire in today.  And 5:30 AM seemed to be the only available time today.
I confess… that I’m seriously, for reals, NOT a morning person.  All I need to do is get up the odd morning at 5:30 AM for me to remind myself of that.
I confess… that my grass is really long.  Again, going to blame that one on wasting two perfectly good grass cutting nights over my TV that still doesn’t work.  (Can you tell this one’s REALLY stuck in my craw??)
I confess… that I really don’t enjoy feeling this cantankerous over a stupid TV.  So here’s the positive:  It’s Fall!  I’m going to decorate for it soon!  I’m excited about tea and chili and apple sauce and Scentsy’s Pumpkin Roll and sweaters and scarves and boots and fall activities!!
halloween autumn theme
*EDIT* My friend Priscilla just messaged me to tell me the leaves in this picture look like marijuana.  And she is so right.  I didn't even notice, just snagged it from Google images!  Whoops!  They're not mine, promise!!! LOL

I confess… that this “looking for positives” has already cheered me up – here’s some more:  I’m looking forward to dinner out with my Ma tonight, and my brother’s birthday brunch tomorrow, and just spending quality time this weekend with the fam. :)
Cheers to Friday, friends!  Have a great weekend… and be sure to enjoy your TVs. ;)

The night the satellite repair guy forgot about me.

Yesterday, I told you all I had GOOD NEWS!!! because I had finally got the name & number of a satellite dish repair man that worked in the area, and he told me he’d be at my place at 5:15 to fix my dish which hasn’t worked properly for over a year.

I was stoked.

But I was also apprehensive.

I just had this feeling all day that things weren’t going to go well.  I had this feeling that he wasn’t going to show up; that I would waste a whole evening waiting around for nothing.

Why?  Why would I feel that way?  Why, after he clearly said on the phone the night before, “OK, I will see you tomorrow night, 5:15.”

Well.  The reason I tend to feel this way in situations like this is because it seems if something’s going to go wrong, it’ll happen to me.  I have zero luck when it comes to this kind of thing.   I will lose my car in the parking lot.  I’ll go for an oil change and discover I have a broken tail light.  I’ll take a whole day off work to wait for furniture to be delivered, only to have it arrive 10 minutes before the end of the window they promised me.  Without the pillows that come with it.

Sure enough, my gut feelings on this one were right.  I had invited my mom over for supper last night, and together we sat and waited, and waited, and waited…  I tried not to get wound up, thinking, He’s probably just been delayed, don’t worry, he’ll be here…

By 6:30, I decided to try his cell phone.  Left him a voicemail.  He called me back a half-hour later, saying he was at a job nearby, that he was almost done, and then he’d be coming to my place.  Phewf.  Peace of mind, he was still coming!!

And then we sat and waited.  And waited.  And waited some more.

Finally, Mom said, “Jill, I don’t think he’s coming.  It’s dark out now.”

She went home and I sat and waited for another whole hour.  And during that hour, I stewed.  I missed my work out.  I could’ve been cutting the grass.  I’d told Brenda I’d stop in after he left, but how could I do that when he never even arrived??

It was a whole flipping night of nothing.

Finally, at 9 PM, I decided there was no chance in hell he was going to show, and though I hated to call and bug him again, I figured I needed to to find out what happened and if he was going to be able to come some other night.

As soon as he heard my voice, he said, “Ahhhh JILL!!  I forgot all about you…”

It turns out that the job he was at when he called me took him longer than expected, and by the time he left there it was dark, so he just went straight home.  Didn’t think of me again until he heard my voice on the phone.

*sigh*

He promised he’s coming tonight.  I said, “So, definitely tomorrow night?”  And he said, “Yes, yes, definitely tomorrow night.  I will put your name on my dash so I don’t forget.  That’s what I normally do.”

You can understand how this doesn’t exactly fill me with comfort and confidence in him.  He didn’t even give me a time this go-round, so I don’t even know when to expect him.  Just he’ll “definitely be there”.

Doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies.

So, my dearly beloved blog friends, this is what I need from you.  I need you ALL to cross your fingers and toes and eyeballs and send positive satellite dish vibes my way this evening.  Please pray to any or all Gods that you believe in that the Satellite Repair Man remembers me, that he comes to my house, and that he’s able to fix it all tonight.

I know.  There are more important things in the world to be sending vibes & praying for.  However, when I’m in the midst of one of these clusterf*cks, I lose perspective and it becomes all I can think of.

I need my dish back.  Before all the good Fall TV starts.

Please, friends.  Pray for me.

And for the Satellite Repair Man.

The stuff that’s whirling through my head today.

Wednesday!!  Already!!  I’ll take it!!

Here’s a mish-mash of the stuff going on in my ol’ noggin today.

  • Remember on Friday, when I bragged about how well I did at the Fair Thursday night without gorging on all the bad-but-sooo-good food?  And how I vowed to stay away from deep-fried anything for the whole weekend??  Well.  We’ll chalk that one up to a big ol’ FAIL.  I ate french fries.  On three separate occasions over the course of one weekend.  Not to mention the giant-ass double-decker cheeseburger I ate on Saturday evening.  I went back to tell them at Bonnie’s food booth how delicious it was, and the girl who served me looked at me with big round eyes and said, “You ate it ALL????”  Why, yes.  Yes I did.  And it seriously might’ve been the best burger I’ve ever eaten in my life.  I don’t regret it one little bit.
  • The only reason I did not gain 10 pounds is because I, once again, managed to keep up with my work-outs.  I even did an extra one to compensate for the over-indulging.
  • I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but I seriously need to get back on track with my healthy eating habits…

Diet

  • You know who I hung out with for about a half-hour last night?  Jillian Michaels.  That’s right. My former nemesis.  Ol’ Jillian Bitchface Michaels.  I had time to squeeze in a quick workout last night, even though it was “Rest Day” on my schedule, and I was curious to see if I still hated her and her “30 Day Shred” as much as I did 64 lbs. ago… And you know what?  It wasn’t as bad as I remembered.  Turns out, I actually kind of enjoyed the workout, and it didn’t feel as “long” as it used to.  Mind you, it was only Level One, but I felt much better about myself after realizing it’s not such a difficult challenge anymore.  You never know.  I might just drop the “Bitchface” when I refer to JM now…

30-day-shred-240kgs1710-1262888935

  • I have had severely chapped lips for weeks now.  Like, severely chapped.  And I can’t stop picking at them.  My favourite lip balm is eos, but it doesn’t seem to actually be helping.  Does anyone have any advice?  Some kind of industrial-strength lip balm or chap stick that works wonders?  I’m willing to try anything to get this under control.

  • GOOD NEWS!!!  I think I’m finally going to get my dish working so that I can actually watch TV (that does not come in DVD form) again!!  For regular followers, you know I’ve had issues for well over a year now with my TV being an asshole.  It used to cut in and out like beserk every couple of weeks, and over a month ago, I lost my signal completely.  I had some guys in on Monday helping to move furniture around, and while I had them in my grasp, I gave them the mission of fixing the TV, too.  They were unsuccessful.  But I finally got the name of a guy who offers satellite repair service locally, and he’s supposed to be coming to visit me tonight.  Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that I’ve finally found a solution…
  • Speaking of the furniture moving… I got my bedroom set from my aunt & uncle on Monday morning, and I loooove it.  And of course, I have no pictures to share.  oops.  But it’s so nice.  I’m thrilled with how we managed to fit it all in to my room, and how it all looks now!  Big shout out of thanks to my helpers who took time out on their holiday Monday to get it into my house!!
  • The furniture moving seems to have sparked something within me… it was probably the embarrassing dust bunnies that leapt forth for all to see during the move, or the fact that everyone kept opening the door to my “junk room” and teasing me about being a hoarder.  Suddenly, I’m dying to get things done around my house.  Stuff that I’ve talked about doing since the day I moved in.  Like, painting the whole house.  And ripping up the dingy old carpet that’s in the upstairs hall and spare bedrooms and putting in new flooring.  And fixing up the staircase somehow. And completely purging the entire house of all the junk I’ve accumulated and hidden in closets, cupboards, drawers, spare rooms, and the basement. All.over.the.house.  I want it all done and gone.   Like, now.

hoarders_edited-1  I really don’t want to end up on this show…

  • I’m declaring September and October 2013 as the “Get Jill’s House Up To Snuff” months.  By the time I’m bringing out Christmas decorations, I want the house to be freshly painted and totally de-cluttered.  It is my mission!!!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!! :)
